International Engagement
We advise the Government on managing Australia’s engagement with other countries, which is critical to advancing Australia’s national interests. This includes building stronger relationships with key partners in our region to facilitate economic growth, collaborate on international reforms and ensure we are well placed to resolve disputes. We also advise the Prime Minister on working with key international organisations and fora. These include the United Nations, the G20, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, the Commonwealth, and multilateral banks such as the World Bank, Asian Development Bank and the Asian Infrastructure and Investment Bank.
We support the Prime Minister in dealings with foreign leaders and dignitaries, both overseas and here in Australia. Past visits include:
- China in April 2016
- United States in January 2016
- Afghanistan in January 2016
- Iraq in January 2016
- Japan in December 2015
