A State Funeral for the Honourable Concetto (Con) Sciacca AO will take place at 10.30am on Friday 30 June 2017 at The Cathedral of St Stephen, 249 Elizabeth Street, Brisbane, QLD.

Mr Sciacca was the Minister Assisting the Treasurer for Superannuation from 1995‑1996, Minister for Veterans’ Affairs from 1994-1996, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Administrative Services 1994, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Arts and Administrative Services from 1993-1994 and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Social Security from 1990-1994. Mr Sciacca represented the Federal Seat of Bowman QLD in the House of Representatives from 1987-1996 and from 1998-2004. 

Mr Sciacca was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2006 for service to ex-service personnel, particularly through the commemorative program of events, Australia Remembers 1945-1995, to the community through support for cancer research institutions, and to the Australian Parliament.

Family, friends, representatives of organisations and members of the public are welcome to attend the State Funeral. Members of the public will be shown to seating in order of arrival until the venue reaches capacity.

Doors will open at 9.40am. Attendees are kindly requested to be seated by 10.00am. Ushers will be on hand to assist with seating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Vincent’s Private Hospital Brisbane in memory of Mr Sciacca.
