This year marks the 23rd anniversary of Australian Citizenship Day. It is an opportunity for all Australians to celebrate Australian citizenship.

In accordance with flag protocol, Australian Government departments and associated portfolio agencies are requested to fly or display the Australian National Flag all day on Tuesday, 17 September 2024 to celebrate Australian Citizenship Day. State, territory and local government bodies, as well as non-government organisations, are also welcome to follow this protocol.
