Employee wellbeing and benefits

In addition to competitive pay and generous superannuation, PM&C offers flexible working arrangements, comprehensive leave entitlements and wellness initiatives.

Competitive pay

PM&C offers competitive pay with annual pay rises and generous superannuation contributions of 15.4% on top of your base salary. For more information on salaries and allowances for non-SES employees, refer to the PM&C enterprise agreement.

SES employment conditions are outlined in individual agreements.

Flexible work

We recognise the benefits of flexibility in how, when and where work is performed. We consider flexibility first from a starting position of 'How can we make this work?' with a bias towards flexibility. This means that we consider individual circumstances and operational requirements and make genuine attempts to establish mutually beneficial arrangements.

Flexible work arrangements can include:

  • remote work, including working from home some or all of the time
  • flexible work within the hours of 7 am to 7 pm, Monday to Friday
  • time off for additional working hours through flex time and time off in lieu (or, in some cases, overtime)
  • part-time work
  • job-sharing arrangements (where more than one part time employees share a position or set of duties)

Comprehensive leave provisions

Our leave provisions are generous and support you in a range of life circumstances. PM&C provides a range of entitlements set out in our enterprise agreement for non-SES employees and in individual agreements for SES employees.

Enjoy 4 weeks of paid annual leave for each year of service, plus public holidays. You can take annual leave at half pay.

Our Christmas close-down also gives you 3 extra days off work between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Purchase up to 8 weeks of additional leave per year for an extended break from work to, for example, take an extended rest, travel, attend to caring commitments or study.

Take care of yourself and your family or dependents with 18 days of paid leave every year. You can access this leave if you:

  • are ill or injured
  • need to attend health practitioner appointments
  • need to provide care to, for example, family members.

Your long service leave (LSL) entitlement grows by 9 days annually for every year of continuous service and is available for you to take after reaching 10 years of continuous service. Your leave entitlements, including LSL, can be taken with you to over 100 different employers, including other APS agencies and ACT state government departments.

Attend significant activities associated with your cultural or faith obligations by making the most of our cultural leave. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees can also access additional ceremonial leave to attend cultural activities or fulfil ceremonial obligations.

No matter how long you have been employed at PM&C, as a primary caregiver, take up to 18 weeks of paid parental leave (at full or half pay) to bond with your child. Secondary caregivers can take 8 weeks paid leave, increasing by 2 weeks each year to 18 weeks in 2027.

Consider taking paid parental leave at half pay or combining it with other leave types to extend the break for longer.

We are there for you during challenging times. We are committed to providing maximum support to employees with access to provisions, including paid leave and personalised safety plans, to support you through situations of family and domestic violence.

Wellness initiatives

Experience a workplace dedicated to fostering mental and physical wellbeing, promoting inclusivity, and nurturing resilient and empowered teams. We champion safe, respectful and inclusive behaviours, and have strong systems and processes in place to deal with any form of bullying, harassment, or discrimination.

PM&C recognises the importance of harmonising work and personal life. Our standard work week is 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday, and our flexible work policy provides employees flexibility in how and when they work. At times, it may be necessary for some additional hours if there is urgent, high-priority work. We support staff to offset these additional hours with time off through flex time (for APS 1 to APS 6), and time off in lieu (for Executive Level staff) or in specific cases, overtime.

PM&C offers annual influenza vaccinations at no cost to all of our employees. You can even take reasonable time during ordinary work hours to donate blood, plasma or platelets.

Elevate your emotional and mental wellbeing, along with that of your immediate family or household members. Our employee assistance program (EAP) offers confidential counselling support with skilled clinicians and allied health professionals – addressing a spectrum of concerns from stress management to financial counselling, ensuring holistic support.

Reasonable adjustments are available during the recruitment process and in the workplace to eliminate barriers to you performing at your best. We tailor reasonable adjustments for you to ensure you have equal opportunity to participate in work-related activities and meet job requirements. Reasonable adjustments are not limited to people with disability.

PM&C's employee-led networks foster inclusion and diversity across 6 distinct groups. The networks contribute to a culture where everyone feels valued, safe and included at work. They promote celebration and acknowledgement of diversity, share lived experience, are allies and peer support, and facilitate our PM&C Diversity Calendar.

The networks include:

  • Ability Network
  • Mara Network for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff
  • Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) Network
  • Pride Network
  • Gender Equality Network
  • Wellbeing Network.
