Applying for roles at PM&C

See the Current Opportunities page and APSJobs for vacancies advertised to the community. Before applying for a job with PM&C, ensure that you meet the eligibility criteria. You must:

  • be an Australian Citizen on the date you are employed with the Australian Public Service. At PM&C it is a requirement that you are an Australian citizen by the completion of the recruitment process, unless exceptional circumstances apply
  • be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the required level (minimum Baseline but may be higher depending on the vacancy)
  • hold and maintain essential professional qualifications (where required)
  • be able to provide the necessary evidence of your Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander heritage and/or disability when applying for Affirmative Measures recruitment (for more information see below).

Review the Candidate Information Pack in detail to understand the role you are applying for and whether it is a fit for you. We suggest that you also speak with the Contact officer.

When applying for a role at PM&C, we usually request:

  • An up-to-date resume (three pages maximum), and
  • A one-page pitch outlining how your skills, knowledge, experience and qualifications make you the best person for the job (in either a Microsoft Word or PDF format).

You may also refer to the APSC resource Cracking the Code for further guidance and assistance on applying for jobs in the Australian Public Service.

Specific application requirements may differ depending on role requirements.

When applying for vacancies at PM&C, we encourage you to refer to the PM&C Performance Model. This will help you understand the behaviours and characteristics required at each classification level so that you can shape your pitch accordingly. The four key characteristic we seek at PM&C across all levels are:

  • Problem solving
  • Achieving
  • Collaborating
  • Leading.

The PM&C Performance Model is consistent with the APS and Executive Level Work Level Standards and SES Work Level Standards, an APS-wide tool for assigning and assessing the classification of roles.

Onboarding

Your new work area within PM&C will reach out to you to agree a start date, discuss salary and conditions such as flexible work and relocation (where relevant). For more information see What we offer.

Due to the nature of work undertaken by PM&C, everybody needs to undergo security and background checks prior to being issued with a formal offer of employment. This will be a factor in determining how quickly you can commence.
