The first Australian Data Strategy (the Strategy) and supporting Action Plan have been launched. It aims to develop a mature data system for all Australians by 2025, and support better use of data by Government throughout the economy.
The Strategy outlines how:
- the value of data can be maximised to benefit consumers, businesses, Government and researchers,
- the Government is keeping data safe and appropriately managing its use,
- the use of data will be made easier through greater transparency about what data is available, appropriate data integration and improved data capability and data management.
The Strategy was developed across Government in consultation with private, research and not-for-profit sectors.
The Australian Government is inviting the public to submit their feedback on the Data Strategy by 30 June 2022 to ensure all Australians have an opportunity to contribute to our whole-of-economy vision for data in Australia.
Together, the Strategy and Action Plan set a clear path for Australia’s data system over the next four years, and will complement the Government’s broader Digital Economy Strategy and Digital Government Strategy.
