The final report of the Commonwealth Government COVID-19 Response Inquiry is now available.
The inquiry, led by independent panel members Ms Robyn Kruk AO (chair), Professor Catherine Bennett and Dr Angela Jackson, was established to review the Commonwealth Government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and make recommendations to improve response measures in the event of future pandemics.
The inquiry received 2,201 public submissions and hosted 27 roundtables to further explore the impact of the pandemic on key sectors and communities. Research was also conducted through targeted focus groups, a nationally representative survey and analysis of the reviews already undertaken by independent experts and most states and territories.
The report includes nine guiding recommendations that are aligned with nine pillars of a successful pandemic response. The report identifies 19 immediate actions for the next 12-18 months, and a further seven medium-term actions prior to the next national health emergency.
