National Women’s Alliances to continue vital role informing policy

National Women's Alliances grant recipients announced

Five specialist organisations representing women in all their diversity will share in $10.88 million to continue the work of the National Women’s Alliances from December 2024 to 30 June 2029.

The grant recipients were chosen through an open competitive grant round. The successful organisations were jointly announced by Senator the Hon Katy Gallagher MP, Minister for Women and the Hon Kate Thwaites MP, Assistant Minister for Women on 29 October 2024. The Alliances play a vital role in ensuring women’s voices are central in the policy development process by providing evidence based, intersectional gender equality advice and civil society expertise to government on areas of most impact and influence to Working for Women: A Strategy for Gender Equality.

Priority themes: Gender-based violence; and women’s economic equality and leadership
Successful applicant: YWCA Canberra

Priority theme: Women living in rural, regional and remote areas of Australia
Successful applicant: National Rural Women’s Coalition

Priority theme: Women with disability
Successful applicant: Women with Disabilities Australia

Priority theme: First Nations Women
Successful applicant: National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women’s Alliance

Priority theme: Migrant and refugee and culturally and linguistically diverse women
Successful applicant: Federation of Ethnic Communities’ Councils of Australia
