The Prime Minister today announced Dr Caralee McLiesh PSM will be the next Auditor‑General for Australia, with her 10-year term to commence on 4 November 2024.
Dr McLiesh is currently the Secretary and Chief Executive of the New Zealand Treasury and has more than 25 years experience across government, international, not-for-profit and commercial sectors. Prior to her current role, Dr McLiesh was the Managing Director of TAFE NSW and a Deputy Secretary with the NSW Treasury.
Dr McLiesh was awarded the Public Service Medal in 2017 for outstanding public service to social impact investment policy and reform in New South Wales.
On behalf of PM&C, I congratulate Dr McLiesh on her appointment. I also wish to thank Ms Rona Mellor PSM, for her leadership as the acting Auditor‑General, a role she will continue to hold until Dr McLiesh commences.
