This is a statement of legal services expenditure by the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet for the 2022-23 financial year, published in compliance with paragraph 11.1(ba) of the Legal Services Directions 2017. All figures are GST exclusive.
Total legal services expenditure was $752,866 (excluding GST). This comprised:

Explanatory Notes
- ‘Legal services expenditure’ has been defined as legal services accrued by the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet during the 2022-23 financial year.
- Total legal services expenditure for 2022-23 was approximately $1,300,284 less than 2021-22. A significant portion of the decrease is attributable to the work undertaken by the Office of the National Data Commissioner. That Office was transferred to the Department of Finance following a machinery of government change effective from 1 July 2022.
