Women in Cyber Security
The Office of the Cyber Security Special Adviser is passionate about creating an environment where women can thrive and succeed in cyber security roles. We firmly believe the strength of our future cyber security workforce rests on our ability to harness the full potential of Australia’s diverse talent pool. Partnering with businesses, education providers and the research community, we want to encourage more women to choose a career in cyber security.
Australia’s Cyber Security Strategy identified that Australia’s cyber security workforce suffers from low participation from women. Worldwide, only 10 per cent of information security professionals are women. The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet is partnering with a range of government, private sector and research community stakeholders to understand the causes of low participation by women in cyber security careers and do something about it.
Have an initiative or opportunity that promotes women in cyber security? Submit a short summary (up to 8 sentences) to cyber@pmc.gov.au. Please note our intent is to promote open and inclusive events and initiatives that encourage female participation in cyber security rather than specific products and services.
