A $5 million Research Partnership grant – part of the Working for Women Program – has been awarded to the University of Sydney’s Australian Centre for Gender Equality and Inclusion @ Work (the Centre) to build a body of evidence to inform progress toward gender equality.
From March 2025 to June 2030, the Research Partnership will aim to strengthen evidence where there are gaps, and translate evidence into action for government, industry and the community more broadly. Research will particularly focus on drivers of women’s economic equality.
The Research Partnership will prioritise hearing directly from the Australian community – particularly women – about their intersectional experiences, attitudes, and aspirations for work, training, career and care.
The Centre will partner with the Jumbunna Institute for Indigenous Education and Research (University of Technology Sydney), and University of Melbourne with researchers engaged on issues including Indigenous employment, migrant women's working lives, gendered violence, health, unpaid care, youth and work.
The Centre will also work closely with the Office for Women and National Women’s Alliances.
The Centre was selected through an open competitive grant round as part of the Australian Government’s Working for Women program. Senator the Hon Katy Gallagher MP, Minister for Women announced the successful recipient on 25 February 2025.
