Frequently asked questions about the 2024 Royal Visit

Royal Visit to Australia by His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty Queen Camilla.

There will be opportunities to see Their Majesties in Sydney and in Canberra:

  • In Canberra on Monday 21 October, at the Australian War Memorial western grounds and Sculpture Garden from 12:35 pm, and on the forecourt of Parliament House from 1:00 pm (Ceremonial Welcome) and at 2.10 pm (Meet the People walk).
  • In Sydney on Tuesday 22 October, at the Sydney Opera House and on the Harbour (Farm Cove, Botanic Gardens and Mrs Macquarie’s Chair precinct), from 4:20 pm.

As there will be a number of road closures in place and parking is extremely limited at the venues, public transport is recommended.

In the ACT, visit the Transport Canberra website for details on the free Royal Visit shuttle bus services from the City Interchange to and from either the Australian War Memorial or Parliament House.

In Sydney, members of the public can use the metro, rail, bus and ferry networks to event locations.

In line with the Palace gift policy, gifts of a non-commercial nature and flowers can be offered, though may be subject to security screening.

Amenities at each location are as follows:

  • Australian War Memorial –limited portable toilets will be available on the grounds of the War Memorial.
  • Australian Parliament House – portable toilets will be located near Federation Mall.
  • Sydney Opera House – portable toilets will be available on the forecourt.
  • Circular Quay – public amenities are available at the Circular Quay train station.

Please avoid bringing any large bags, banners or umbrellas to the events.
