Publication abstract:

The Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet’s discussion paper on possible new employment and participation models for remote Australia was released on 14 December 2017. The paper has been released to continue the discussion on what a new model could look like.

This paper outlines three potential remote employment and participation model options: a new wage-based model, the CDP Reform Bill from 2015 and an improved version of current Community Development Programme (CDP).

Submissions to this discussion paper will be part of a formal consultation process, to ensure that any new reforms are developed in partnership with Indigenous Australians and remote communities.
