On Tuesday 14 May 2024, the Treasurer, the Hon Jim Chalmers MP, delivered the 2024–25 Federal Budget.
The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet will play a key role in delivering Budget initiatives, including:
- establishing an Insurance Affordability and Natural Hazard Risk Reduction Taskforce
- overseeing and coordinating the Future Made in Australia suite of initiatives across government.
Gender equality is essential for strengthening our economy, our society and our nation. The 2024–25 Budget delivers additional investments for women, including:
- important work to support ending gender-based violence
- putting women and gender equality at the centre of Government decision-making through the rollout of Working for Women – the Government's 10-year strategy for gender equality.
Gender equality was considered in the policy development process for this Budget through gender responsive budgeting, with key measures subject to a detailed gender impact assessment.
Details of measures that will drive gender equality, including case studies of how gender analysis has been applied to policy design, can be found in the 2024–25 Women's Budget Statement.
The 2024–25 Commonwealth Budget papers are available on the Budget 2024–25 website.
