The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet plays an important role in supporting this. The 2025–26 Budget includes funding to the department for new initiatives, including $20 million to develop initiatives encouraging consumers to buy Australian-made products.

The Budget also includes continued investment in Australian Government Consulting (AGC). AGC is a whole-of-APS capability, reducing APS reliance on external labour by delivering consulting work that would otherwise have been outsourced. Since being established in July 2023, AGC has worked with 10 APS agencies on analytically driven strategy, policy and organisational performance projects.

This year’s Budget builds on several significant recent investments for women, in recognition that gender equality is essential to make women’s lives safer, strengthen our economy and make our society more inclusive and more equal.

Gender equality was considered in the policy development process for this Budget through gender responsive budgeting.

The 2025–26 Women’s Budget Statement details measures across portfolios designed to enhance gender equality.

The 2025–26 Budget papers are available on the Budget 2025–26 website.
