The Budget delivered a number of important measures for the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet to help build a public service for the future. As part of the APS reform agenda the government has provided $72.9 million over three years to deliver immediate benefits for the public sector and broader Australian public.
That includes:
- $40.8 million for PM&C and the APSC to develop and implement the APS reform plan.
- $25 million to establish an Australian Public Service Capability Reinvestment Fund to build capability in priority areas for the APS.
- $7.1 million for the Department of Finance to begin implementing the Government’s commitment to net zero emissions by 2030.
The Budget provides more than $7 billion in important measures across the government to drive gender equality. This includes funding for the Office for Women to implement Gender Responsive Budgeting and Gender Impact Assessments and develop a National Strategy to Achieve Gender Equality. Other key government investment in gender equality include:
- Improvements in child care, paid parental leave and superannuation.
- Continued commitment to women’s safety and ending violence against women and children.
Details of how these measures will drive gender equality can be found in the Women’s Budget Statement 2022-23.
