COVID-19 Response Inquiry

Thank you to everyone who made a submission to the Commonwealth Government COVID-19 Response Inquiry. We have been overwhelmed by the openness and willingness of the more than 2,000 people and organisations who have taken the time to share their insights and experiences.

There was a common theme in the submissions of wanting to capture the lessons learned, before they were lost to the passage of time.  Four years on since the start of the pandemic, as a panel, we share that sense of importance and urgency to better prepare for a future event.

Our terms of reference are very broad

They enable us to consider all the key aspects of the national response, its interface with other levels of government, communities, industry and its impact on our citizens. Guided by the submissions, we are now involved in more detailed consultation with stakeholders, and the community. These will be outlined in more detail in the coming weeks.

Everyone's COVID-19 experience was different

Your views on the Australian Government's decision making, National Cabinet's leadership and the response measures will form a critical part of our review and the development of recommendations. Each and every submission mattered, and all voices were heard.
