PM&C Inclusion and Diversity Strategy 2023-26

This Strategy outlines the Department’s vision for enhancing the diversity of our workforce whilst embedding a culture of inclusion – a goal that is central to living our organisational values.

Our Inclusion and Diversity pillars

PM&C has five pillars for progressing inclusion and diversity in our workplace, guiding our forward Action Plan.

Pillar 1: A Diverse and Thriving Workforce

Our workforce is reflective of the Australian community and people can contribute to their full potential. We provide career pathways and grow diverse leaders through challenging work and professional development.

Pillar 2: Positive Employee Experience

Our teams and leaders foster collaboration and contribution, value and recognise diversity. Our workplace is accessible, physically and psychologically safe, and free from racism, harassment, discrimination and bias.

Pillar 3: Inclusive Work Processes, Policy and Systems

We address and remove barriers in our processes, policies and systems to support inclusion and equity. Our policies are modern, use inclusive language and consider people’s varied needs and social identities.

Pillar 4: Improved Inclusion and Diversity Capability

We continue to invest in and grow awareness and understanding of inclusion and diversity, including cultural capability and integrity (in particular in relation to First Nations peoples). Our leaders confidently support and promote our inclusion and diversity agenda.

Pillar 5: Good Governance

We will strengthen our governance and reporting structure, with defined roles and accountabilities and a fit for purpose approach to monitoring and reporting on progress.
